Why Customers Should Not Log In to Email on a Shop PC: Safety Tips for Cyber Cafés
"Bhaiya, please open my Gmail, the PDF is in there." It happens every day in cyber cafés. The customer opens their email on the shop PC, downloads the file, takes the print and leaves. Most of the time they forget to log out.
That small habit can cause big trouble for both the customer and the shop.

The risk for the customer
- The next customer can open their email. If the account stays logged in, the next person can read all their mail, bank messages and documents.
- The password gets saved in the browser. In a hurry, customers click "Save" when the browser asks to save the password, and it stays on the shop PC.
- The whole Google account is open. The same login opens Google Drive, Photos and contacts as well.
- Files stay in the Downloads folder. Aadhaar cards, mark sheets and bank statements pile up in the PC's Downloads folder.
The risk for the shop
- If a customer's account is misused, suspicion falls first on the PC where it was left open.
- Customers lose trust, and the cyber café's reputation suffers.
- Dozens of people's accounts and files collect on one PC, and a single virus or theft can expose them all.
If a customer must open email, take these precautions
1. Always use an Incognito / InPrivate window
Press Ctrl + Shift + N in Chrome or Edge to open a private window. Logins and history are deleted when the window closes, and passwords are not saved.
2. Stay at the counter until the window is closed
Close the private window in front of the customer when the job is done, so they know their account is not left open.
3. Stop the browser from saving passwords
In Chrome, go to Settings → Autofill and passwords → Google Password Manager → Settings and turn off "Offer to save passwords", so no customer's password is ever saved by mistake.
4. Empty the Downloads folder every day
At the end of the day, delete all customer files from the Downloads folder and empty the Recycle Bin.
5. Use a separate Windows account for customers
Do not do customer work in the Windows user you use for your own work (billing, your own accounts). Create a separate standard (non-admin) user for customers.
The best way: no email login needed at all
Customers open their email because the file is on their phone or in their inbox and they need it on your PC. If they can send the file from their phone straight to your PC, there is no email to open, no password to type and no logout to forget.
With Send2PC, the customer scans the QR code on your counter and sends the file from their own phone. The file arrives on your PC, and no customer account is ever opened on the shop computer.
